Format & Resolution

4k Resolution

All animations in the Domeloop Library are produced in the Fulldome Domemaster format – a 180° fisheye projection specifically designed for immersive environments such as planetariums, dome theatres, and 360° installations.

Every animation is rendered at 4K resolution (4096 × 4096 pixels) and can be scaled down to lower resolutions on request.

Seamless Loopable

Loop

Every animation in this library is a seamless loop – meaning it ends exactly where it begins.

No visible cuts, jumps, or interruptions.

Once started, a loop can run indefinitely, making it equally suited as a VJ visual during live music shows or as continuous background ambience throughout an entire event.

Files & Delivery

Delivery

Each animation is delivered as an individual file, and there is no limit on how many animations can be ordered at once.

All animations are available as PNG image sequences, as well as a range of video formats — for a detailed overview, see the format table below. Delivery method depends on the total file size of your order: downloads of up to 50 GB are provided via a download link, while larger orders are shipped on a physical hard drive.

Storage

File Formats

All animations are rendered and stored as PNG image sequences — the lossless source format used in professional planetarium workflows. PNG sequences are always available for delivery and serve as the foundation for all other formats.

If your production requires a ready-to-play video file, any of the formats listed below can be provided upon request. If your system requires a format not listed here, feel free to reach out — custom delivery formats can be discussed individually.

Speed

Framerate, Speed and Duration

The animations are provided as PNG sequences consisting of 600 frames, offering great flexibility since the playback speed is not fixed.
They are designed to look smooth and natural at 60 FPS but can also be played at 30 FPS, resulting in a slower version at half speed.
If your production requires 30 frames per second but the original playback speed should be maintained, frame dropping can be applied — meaning every second frame is skipped, resulting in a fast-paced animation with 300 frames.

Example 1

Speed: Fast

Frames: 600 frames @ 60 FPS

Duration: 10 seconds

Example 2

Speed: Slow

Frames: 600 frames @ 30 FPS

Duration: 20 seconds

Example 3

Speed: Fast (Frame Dropping)

Frames: 300 frames @ 30 FPS

Duration: 10 seconds

Dome

Dome Orientation

The animations are created with different focal positions: some centered at the top, others in the “sweet spot” around 45°.
This ensures compatibility with a wide range of dome types and presentation styles.

No Audio

No Audio

All animations are delivered without sound — only visuals.
They are designed as visual components for planetarium venues and fulldome productions to create their own unique shows and soundscapes.
